Happy birthday to me!

Happy birthday to me!

A big three years old today.

Out of the toddler years. Standing on my own two feet. And finding my way in the (big, bad, amazing) online marketing world. And, what a wild ride it’s been.

This year in particular brought a unique set of challenges as I juggled motherhood and business for the first time, and navigated a change of direction as my business, expertise, and goals matured.

In today’s podcast episode, I’m reflecting on the past three years and looking forward to the future. Come along for the ride!

Previous Reflection Episodes

Overview

  • A Year of Rebuilding: 2020 was a year of re-building, refining my product suite and creation. This included two new signature courses and a soon to be launched group coaching program which will become the flagship offer in my business.
  • Motherhood and Business: This year was coloured by the process of becoming a mother, and learning how to juggle my new role with the challenges and triumphs of business. It wasn’t a comfortable or particularly easy transition for me, and it’s only now a year in that I am learning to marry the two more harmoniously.
  • Listening to My Intuition: This year has taught me the value of listening to my own intuition and to follow my heart. I’ve leaned into a calling to go bigger, and in pushing through the limiting beliefs and self sabotage that come along with that.
  • Lonely in Business: The challenges on my time, and the nature of the world this year, have meant that I’m more isolated than ever. I’ve particularly found it difficult to carve out time for meaningful relationships. My existing relationships, with the exception of a few very strong ones, aren’t as strong anymore as our interests and focuses moved apart, and I haven’t had the time or space to cultivate the threads of new ones which could easily developed in their place. I feel lonely in business, and that is in a very large part responsible for my decision to focus on a more high touch environment moving forward.
  • Levelling Up: This year has forced me to come face to face with some of the things that are holding me back from Stevie 2.0, and specifically the version of myself that I want to be. I have noticed little behaviours creeping in – too much coffee or wine, not enough exercise – and the impact that those decisions have on my productivity.
  • Investing in Myself: This year, I realised that trying to learn everything myself has been responsible for a lot of unnecessary grind and ‘taking the long road’ over the past three years. To that end, I have committed to investing in learning from people who have done exactly what I want to do in order to ‘quantum leap’ and do things faster and more efficiently.
  • Simplification: In my first couple of years of business, I suffered greatly from shiny object syndrome. This manifested in creating more and more offers, being on all of the marketing platforms and saying yes to everything that came my way. This year marked a 180 degree turn around, with a huge simplification of everything and a focus on what works.

Looking to 2021

If 2020 was the year of re-building, 2021 is shaping up to be the year of scale. With my product suite created, my focus will be shifting into two things – improving the experience of my students inside of my existing programs, and scaling those offers significantly.

I have hired a paid ads team in the US who will be managing my paid ad growth, will be investing in hiring team to support my vision and will be doubling down on the optimisation of my three front facing offers, the release of my book and some back end offers exclusive to my existing students.

Oh, and enjoying life more. Refining the business, family, and friends ‘blend’. And at the end of the day? Making myself proud.
